SUSTAINABLE FOODS TO ENRICH YOUR LIFE
Heirloom Annie Farms is located on Highway 9 in Black Mountain. Nestled between the mountains and resting on the bank of the Broad River, we grow our Heritage Chickens, Eggs, and Veggies utilizing the fertile soil of this ancient land along with our compost generated on site, and focus on organically growing products that are sustainable and nutrient dense.
We raise Delaware Chickens for meat and eggs. A Heritage breed, the Delaware used to be the preferred chicken to eat across the East Coast of the U.S., prior to the 1950s when the Cornish Cross was introduced and began the chicken commodity industry. We raise our birds in small flocks with all organic feed, forested, and harvest on the farm site at 18 weeks. TABBLE READY CHICKENS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN OUR CSA AND ON THE FARM.
Our Chickens and Ducks live in a spacious outdoor setting, protected from predators, but with plenty of room to forage and roam. The ducks enjoy swimming in their pond most of the day. Our egg layers are all pets and enjoy a Non-GMO- organic diet. Our chicken eggs have a darker and richer yolk that store bought or non organic eggs. Duck Eggs are big and tasty with a deep rich flavor and are widely known as "the baker's secret".
Heirloom Annie grows primarily garlic which is sold at farmers markets. We use this organic garlic in a number of food products that we create, including our organic finishing and compound butter, pickles, chow chow, and a variety of other culinary items.
